WOW It takes a "village"

It took a lot of people to make the WOW Celebration happen. The women officers and cadets from Crestmont supported us by joining the musicians and by dressing as historical Salvation Army Characters. The group dressed as donut girls, slum sisters and hallelujah lassies greeted the delegates as they entered the gate. These characters introduced themselves and told a little about their characters. As the delegates entered the gate they walked down the red carpet to the lobby.

Our own Anne Calvo joined in with the officers and cadets to portray her favorite Salvation Army character Lt. Colonel Alida Bosshardt. Colonel Bosshardt is an amazing woman who began the Salvation Army's work with the prostitutes in the red light district. Check out this link to learn more: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majoor_Bosshardt

Captain Cheri Currie portrayed Major Annie Smyth, another hero of the faith who was from New Zealand. Annie was mightily used by God in New Zealand and in Japan.

We also owe a great debt to our translators, Pili Martinez, Maryuli Darby, and Captain Magaly Laubach who took turns translating the meeting. Translation is an important part of our minisry in the Western Territory. As our ministry to immigrants grows, so the need for translations grows. Our Multicultural Ministries Department does a fantastic job!

Keep checking back for more updates and pictures about the WOW Celebration!
